Mackendy Blanc is a Haitian native who was awarded entrance into the Watson University in Boulder, CO last year. Watson accepts only 45 applicants (of about 450, worldwide) and is the "first incubator leading to a degree for the world’s most promising, next-generation change-makers and social entrepreneurs."

Mackendy has worked with youth and community groups in over seven rural villages and five cities in three countries. He's co-organized and facilitated five youth conferences for over 1600 youth from twenty communities in Haiti, Dominican Republic, US, and Dubai. Mackendy’s passion for youth development is far-reaching. As a specially selected participant in the DO School (Innovate NYC) initiative in New York City, he has united with young student change-makers to address a social challenge through the lens of entrepreneurship in partnership with NYC EDC (Economic Development Corp). Today, Mackendy is focused on helping youth all over Haiti, ages 15-19, spreading a message to become successful leaders and active agents of change.

Keely and Jason Cormier are mentors at Watson, and have the pleasure of knowing Mackendy. They were recently approached by the President (Eric Glustrom) of the school, who made a request to contribute to a scholarship of $5,500. As Eric stated, "Mackendy has become the heart and sole of our program and we are hoping to help him finish his time here."

A family emergency took Mackendy back to Haiti at an unplanned time, and put his financial situation in peril. As an opportunity to honor this individual, in addition to the Watson community we also serve - we are hoping to raise enough money to cover at least half of this young man's scholarship.
