Ned and Molly Turner, part of the first Origins gatherings over ten years ago, have been living in Nederland and renting out a back-house property for additional income needed to make ends meet.

Their latest renter recently abandoned the property without notice - leaving a cat, along with a massive mess and trail of destruction. After she left, her boyfriend broke in and did additional damage.

On July 7, several of us volunteered to help clean the mess. We prayed over the property, made dump runs, helped clean, paint and have donated vinyl flooring to replace the carpet. Although this helped, there have been multiple expenses - including some that remain. To top it off, Ned was just laid off from his job - so the opportunity to provide timely support couldn't be more welcomed than now.

Here are a few of the details about the damage, reimbursement items and associated needs with this 800 square foot unit:

  • Replace Carpet (in progress / outside labor costs already incurred)
  • Replace Carpeting on Staircase
  • Replace/repair two hanging doors
  • Drywall repairs/replacement/texture/painting on one bedroom wall and in living room “shelf”.
  • Spackle numerous screw holes in drywall and paint all walls
  • Repair hangar fixtures pulled from drywall (towel rack, coat rack)
  • Replace trim pulled from interior door frame and interior window
  • Replace metal exterior door pulled from frame

  • Replace gate latch.
  • Refill 250-gal propane tank (approx. $650)
