Our youth are more vulnerable today than perhaps ever before. Many societal and social factors are creating a perfect storm of negative pushes that make youth vulnerable to all forms of exploitation. In the state of Colorado alone approximately 30 minors are reported missing every 24 hours. According to the FBI, they can be approached by a trafficker within 24 hours. Also kids now spend on average 4-8 hours every day online, the #1 medium for grooming and recruiting.
How are we preparing kids for the world that we live in? What will prevent them from being exploited or even trafficked for sexual exploitation? iEmpathize has created an Empower Youth Program (EYP) for educators, youth leaders, parents, or anyone working directly with kids.
EYP is a media toolkit that includes a facilitator's guide and media activities for youth to engage in the conversation of safely navigating negative pushes and pulls and includes the concept of empathy as the path leading away from exploitation. Now in over 20 states, EYP has been considered a "game changer" effectively empowering adults and youth.
In order to make the EYP a free resource, iEmpathize is leaning to sponsors to fund the program. Over the next several months all donations WILL BE MATCHED by the Selah Foundation up to $50,000!! Will you consider doubling your donation and help us raise $100,000?
EYP has also just been translated into Spanish and is being piloted in the Urban Slums of Mexico City through our partner Conexion Mosaico. Approximately 50,000 kids on the streets of Mexico City are from this vulnerable area and NEED prevention strategies to be safe. We need to raise $7,000 as soon as possible to run the Spanish pilot program. Please consider joining us in this campaign. Thank You!
