Three years ago, His Original Design ministry team – Edna Riley, Dennis Scheminske and Phyllis Scheminske - was invited by YWAM Antigua (Guatemala), to train and minister to students for a week as part of their Discipleship Training School (DTS). During that week, students – and staff – were transformed by God’s love as they learned their identity as God’s sons and daughters…and the unique plans God has for each of their lives.  

Last year, our team was invited back to bring the special ministry we offer – through heart healing and a personal connection with God as Father. Ministering both in English and in Spanish through interpreters, each student received a week of personal ministry time that changed their lives in a powerful way. The students reported their week of ministry was the most transforming and empowering part of the 2016 DTS.

Now, as plans are forming for the 2017 YWAM Antigua DTS, our team has once again been invited to teach and minister with their students, who come from all different parts of the world.

Over the years, the YWAM DTS students’ have changed. Today, many of these young men and women come from troubled lives. YWAM is often recommended by churches and youth leaders to help them transform their lives, and to step into the plans God has always had for them. Those who recommend them, see something in them that often they can’t see in themselves – God’s plans and purposes. It is our privilege and honor to be part of this transformative time in these young lives. 

Dennis and the director of the YWAM Antigua base, Bruce Ahlberg, have a friendship going back more than 10 years when the two first met at a Spanish language school there. Dennis and Phyllis have been actively supporting YWAM Antigua for many years – financially and through acts of service while Denny & Phyllis were full-time missionaries in Guatemala. And from her first trip to Guatemala with the Scheminskes, Edna Riley has become an honored and loved part of the His Original Design team serving Guatemala. 

During their Spring 2017 two-week mission trip, the team will also be ministering in schools – to teachers and students – and to missionaries serving there, some for up to 30 years. The team has established relationships with two schools – one with more than 300 students, and another that provides education and training for more than 100 special-needs Guatemalan children. 

We are asking for your support for round-trip airfare to Guatemala, and for housing, food and transportation costs associated with our ministry work there. 

His Original Design, founded by Edna, Dennis and Phyllis in 2009, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization providing Restoring The Foundations ministry and training throughout the United States and wherever else God opens doors. Our ministry is sustained contributions and ministry fees. Origins has been a faithful supporter of His Original Design for more than seven years, for which we are deeply grateful.
